News, news, news.....

Lots going on around here! All of the puppies have gone to their forever homes and are adjusting well. I am posting some pictures of them just before they went with their families. We groom each puppy before it goes so that it looks and feels great - and won't need to be groomed for about 4 weeks.

Sparkle is expecting around November 1st. This will mean her puppies will be ready right around or after Christmas. Our litters have a strong history of being presold so if you are thinking about one, call or email me. She has already gone through the couple of days of morning sickness and is back to her spunky sparkly self! Her father is an international grand champion - and she is a perfect little bichon girl. She and Wally love to exchange kisses - I think he knows she is carrying his babies!

Will update when we xray!!

Great vet visit!!!

The puppies all went to see Dr. Caputo yesterday. All of them had a very through check up, first shots and a stool check for parasites. Nobody cried at all! They were all so calm and cute - Dr. Caputo said you could tell the quality of the litter and how much attention we pay to our babies and their precious parents.

Right now the puppies play outside with the big kids in the morning, afternoon, and evening. At night they go upstairs and run all around our bedroom playing with each other and lots of toys. Then around 10:30 or so they head to their crate by themselves and go to sleep. What sweet babies!

They had no ill effects from their shots - it didn't slow them down at all! So they are now ready to go to their forever homes! I will call everyone tonight to work out a schedule for pick up. I will groom them before you take them and I will of course post their post grooming pictures for everyone. I trimmed their nails the other night and they simply sat in my lap and let me do it without a squirm or a whimper!

So much news!

Oh my there is so much going on around here! First, the puppies are doing so well! They are eating softened puppy food and are being weaned. Sunny feeds them about 3 - 4 times a day now, but only for a few minutes. There really isn't much milk - it is more of a pacifier effect.

The puppies are so sweet and playful! They love to be held, petted and to play with their Daddy and Auntie Sparkle! I hope to post a video in a day or so.

And we have heat! Wally is so excited that he is in my lap helping me tell you about it! He has to wait a few more days but he knows it is coming! So these will be October babies ready just before Christmas, or as we have done many times, held until the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over and placed then.

Our little Bichon family brings so much joy, love, and laughter to our home that I hope they also spread some to you and yours! have a blessed day!

Three weeks old today!

These babies are growing so fast! They are fat and happy. They are really starting to crawl which means they will be out of the baby bed and on the floor pretty soon. They are even smelling Mommy's water and her food already - and they aren't hungry just look at those bellies!

Their noses are turning black nicely and the shadows around the eyes are coming in too. Pads will start turning soon.

While these are already ready for their forever homes, we are taking deposits on the next litter expected in October and then ready in December. Email or call with questions!

These little ones give us so much joy every day! God is good!

Getting closer to the day!

Sunny is doing very well. She has a strong appetite and is enjoying the air conditioning. Having been pregnant myself during a heat wave I understand her feelings!!! She is sticking closer and closer to me. The due date is the 15th of July with the new moon close to that date too. We will xray around the 9th or 10th and see how many babies we have this time! We had 6 healthy little ones last time so I would expect about that, but you never know. I xray to safely know how many to expect so that I know when delivery is over and I (and Sunny) can have some rest. I sleep in the room with her for a few nights and have a baby monitor for nights after that. Once the puppies are a little older, and Sunny is ready to come upstairs at night to sleep in our room we move them to a large crate upstairs in the bedroom, and then back down in the am. They love to cuddle while we carry them, and Sunny and Wally watch our every move. Sunny counts them when we put them down again I am sure!!!

More news as we have it............Call or email us with any questions!

Morning sickness ugh!

Well, we have survived morning (all day) sickness! It usually occurs around the 4th week and Sunny is always on time for everything. She was a little listless, and off her food. But a sure sign of recovery (in dogs it doesn't last but a few days) is her desire for a snack in the middle of the night in addition to her regular meals!!! I am certain some of you know how she feels or knows someone who does ha ha! Last week I could really feel the babies - little walnut size bumps. You have to feel very carefully or you can injure the pups in that stage. After this week the fetal sac will fill with fluid and you can't feel them the same way.

Sparkle is growing fast - she has growth spurts that seem to hit overnight! She weighs almost 9 pounds with some of that still baby fat. Her first AKC dog show is in July. She had to wait until she was 6 months old which was last week. She and Wally are going to strut their stuff.

Keep checking the blog for updates and we should have some new pictures of our friendly bichon pack for you soon! Become a follower and you will receive a notice of new posts automatically.

Pregnancy update

Sunny is expecting around the 15th of July! We have lots of people who are interested in her babies. She is feeling very good, and loves to have her belly rubbed! :-)  She is usually around 11 pounds, but just before the puppies are born she will balloon up to 16 or 18 pounds - some of us have done that ha ha! Wally is a proud expectant dad and is very careful to check and see how she is doing. Sparkle is their constant companion and she is growing like a little bichon weed! Pictures to come after grooming this week!

Heat has arrived today! So we will expect puppies in mid July! Sunny needs lots of extra lovin' cause heat is just like for people with some cramping and a little blues. But in about a week she will be a happy camper and ready for loving from her sweetie Wally. Stay tuned! Sign up as a follower to receive automatic updates.

There is a reason I am a loyal Eukanuba foods breeder........they are an established company with high standards for healthy, clean foods that my dogs love - and are not allergic to. Follow this link for the most recent recall of "natural" dog food.......it isn't better just because they use the words natural or organic or wild. Feed Eukanuba to all of your babies - I do!

An update finally

So much has happened in the last month. This is Sunny, and I am telling you I am starting to really feel like my old self after having 6 puppies! Dr. Taylor told Mommy to watch out I might have 8 next time!!!! ahhhhhh! Anyway, all of the puppies are in their new wonderful loving homes except Frankie of the Dalton gang. He is staying with us while the Dalton gang is renovating the hideout. He and Sparkle, Mommy's new female from Great Lakes Bichons, are having lots of fun playing together. Here are some of the latest pictures. We will have puppies again probably in October, ready for homes in December.

Five and a half weeks update

Here are some pictures from the morning. I will try to get some more up and maybe a video or too.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

The puppies are 4 weeks old now! They are so cute! When you go in the kitchen, 12 little black eyes and 6 wagging tails greet you from their baby bed. They love to get down on the floor and explore. They are eating mushy puppy food and still nursing for awhile yet. But if you are thinking of coming and visiting them, now is when they are starting to be the cutest! You can really see their personalities. Mommy has some pictures she is adding today, but she will have more tonight

3 weeks old

Our babies are 3 weeks old, eyes all open and trying to get into mischief! Mommy had to expand our area because we simply needed to roam! She also started them on puppy food because they thought that they were starving - which of course they weren't! But there are  6 puppies after all and that is a lot for a girl's first litter!

So Mommy has named all of the puppies now that their eyes are open and they have showing off their personalities. The girls are little Priscilla, Luna (they were born on the full moon) and Mustang Sally (always going somewhere fast!). The boys are Elvis (they were also born on Elvis' birthday), John Boy and David. Pictures to follow later tonight maybe even a video.

Mommy says that the puppies are ready to show off for exceptional families to come and check them out! call or email.............email is the faster  bichonfans@aol.com or leave a message at home 313 278 6178.

1 week old!

Sunny's puppies are one week old now. They are fat and happy. And Wally is so proud it is really funny. Mommy didn't have the camera fast enough to catch Wally in the bed with Sunny and the babies! They were nursing and he acted as if he was guarding all of them from the world ha ha!

Anyway, I am going to retire from this blog and let Sunny take over. Mommy is looking for a very special family where I can retire and be even more spoiled than I am here. So if you know anyone who would be interested in talking to Mommy about me...........let me know and I will pass it on!

Here are some new pictures of the puppies one by one just so you can see that they are starting to get their pigment. Their noses are turning black and even their eyes are starting to shadow.  Look for more changes by next week!

New pictures

Here are some pictures of the puppies. Mommy is going to weigh them tonight. You can start to tell them apart now. Make a comment and let us know what you think!

Monday morning

Everyone is doing well! Sunny is feeling good and eating well. Mommy washed her last night - a sponge bath in human terms - and she felt a lot better after. We ladies do NOT like feeling gross whether we are human or canine! The babies all have full tummies and are taking turns nursing. With 6, it is a busy time!

If you are interested in one of Sunny's puppies, make certain you call or email Mommy soon because she already has a list of people who are wanting a puppy.

More pictures tonight!

The puppies are here!! Six puppies wow!

We have 4 boys and 2 girls nursing right now! It took awhile for Sunny to get started, the first puppy was a breach so it was a hard time. But 6 puppies are all born and everyone is eating just fine. Here are some pictures during first stage of labor, the first sac and all of the puppies out nursing.

First labor stages starting

We are back home now. We had a nice trip and had fun visiting with our Gramma's Westie, Candi. Today Moma is unpacking and cleaning up, and Sunny has started to pant. She isn't eating regular food, only treats, and is doing a lot of just hanging out in the whelping area.

Watch for more updates.....the first stage can last up to 12 hours or more so be patient. Moma has only had one litter in the daytime. Most of the time it is the middle of the night of course!!:-)

We are excited, but Wally is having a hard time understanding why Sunny doesn't want to run and play with him right now ha ha. And I simply know that it is the middle of the night and Mommy is crazy to be up working! So I am going back to bed!
