Babies are coming in December/ready in February!

Hello, October! Yesterday was a beautiful fall day, with stunning colors from Michigan to Ontario. Bichon Fans Princess Skye went to visit our friends in Ontario, and has fallen in love with Bichon Fans Bichon Lovers Romeo! Romeo is the son of our Bichon Fans Prince Wallace, and no relation to Skye. They are doing great together, so we should expect puppies around December 22nd or so! These babies will be ready for their forever homes in late February.

Treat toys galore!

We love toys that hide treats here at Bichonfans! This is a toy that the dogs love, but Mommy doesn't! It is a Starmark "Treat Dispensing Football." It hides treats well, intrigues the dogs - especially the puppies - but it is STICKY on the outside. Let's think about this....it has dust and dust bunnies sticking to it at all times!! "Treat Football" can be cut to have larger opening, I suppose for dumber dogs than Bichons ha ha! It is still in rotation, but its days are numbered!

www.starmarkacademy.com does have tips and videos for training tips

* We are not compensated from Starmark, just kisses from our pups!!

Little John

We have one little boy available - little john. He is just over a week old and already has nice dark pigment around the mouth and eyes. His nose is about half back too! No pictures yet because his eyes will be opening any day. Once they are about for about 48 hours, then I can take some nice close up pictures. He is very sweet and loves to cuddle when he is carried upstairs to sleep with all of us.

Sparkle stays very close to him, but she still loves a quick walk around the block in the afternoon! A new mom has to get out of the house for a little break you know!!

Spring and puppies...LOVE is in the air!

We have seven little puppies who are 5 weeks old! 4 girls and 3 boys.....I will add pictures later tonight. This is a large litter of pups, their mother does a great job with them. We have small, 2 mediums and one big Bertha ha ha for the girls and one small and 2 mediums for the boys.

Our puppies are well socialized and very loving. That is a standard for the breed - if a Bichon puppy isn't loving when you pick them or squirms to get out of your lap.....there is something wrong. If they don't smell clean, if you can't meet both parents.....there is something wrong.

Generally, the smaller puppies will be less than 9-10 pounds, medium between 10-12 pounds, and the big ones - if fed carefully (they are hogs) will stay under 14 pounds. The is a good range because we have been breeding for almost 15 years and can predict their sizes with measured feedings.

On the show front, Bichonfans Prince Wallace ( call name Wally), will return to the circuit this summer thru the end of the year.

The right brush

We use Chris Christensen brushes exclusively - and here is why!

Find them or a dealer @   http://www.chrissystems.com/

The essence of quality in Show Dog Brushes...
Why Proper Brushing is So Important.
Other than the primary function of brushing or styling hair, hair brushing serves several other important purposes; cleaning and massaging the skin, and stimulating the release of beneficial oil called sebum.   Sebum is released by the sebaceous gland at the base of the hair follicle as a result of the gentle hair tugging action caused by brushing.  Brushing the hair cleans the hair shaft, follicle, and skin by removing trapped scale, dirt, and oils.   Brushing also distributes the Sebum, coating, lubricating, and protecting the hair shaft resulting in a healthy glow or sheen and more flexible hair.  Because sebum protects and moisturizes, regular brushing results in hair that is healthier, more manageable, and easier to style.  All of Chris Christensen Systems brushes are well balanced and easy to use.  Handles are designed to ensure comfortable grip and use.
You May be losing More Coat Than You Realize.
Thick, full coat means a healthy coat.  When the coat is thick and full, it's usually healthy, shiny, full of volume and body...most everything you want in a great-looking coat.  By using the right tools you can reduce excess coat loss (including thinning, breakage and splitting).
Much excess coat loss CAN be prevented.
Coat loss has three causes.
1.  Medical conditions,
2.   Genetic & hereditary factors and
3.  Physical or chemical damage to the coat from bleaching products, blow dryers and inferior grooming tools and all around improper styling techniques.
While some coat loss cannot be solved, the majority of excess coat loss caused by breakage can be prevented by treating the coat right and using proper products and tools.
Now there's good news....
Chris Christensen Systems has constructed the perfect precise brush system.  Each brush is specifically constructed and designed for the Show Dog.  Three custom designed pin brushes for variety of coat lengths, textures and fullness.  A 20mm pin brush for the short coats and toy breeds, a 27mm pin brush for the medium to long coats and a 35mm pin brush for the long, full coats, all three pin lengths are available in both oval shape brush design and oblong shape design.  Each brush has a body that is made of Beechwood, a light weight hardwood that won't break easily, a easy firm grip shaped handle designed for superb leverage, omitting stress and fatigue.  The supple relaxed cushions are attuned according to the specific lengths of each brush, designed to give at the proper point eliminating stretching of the hair therefore eliminating breakage.
Also, our Stainless Steel pins have been ground and polished at the tips. This procedure has been highly regarded in the pet industry and professional Dog Show World. We urge you to:
Do The Tip Test:   take the brush you have been using and run the pins down your arm and you will see scratches on your arm.
These scratches are result of not having pins that are ground and polished. These pins are very damaging and irritating to the skin of your canine and if you look at those tips under a magnifier you would find that they look rough, like blades of a saw, that break and cut the hair of your canine.
In many cases when you see dander after brushing it is not dander at all, it is the skin of your canine that you have grated off while brushing; just like the scratches you now have on your arm your canine skin will also have damage.
Take that brush that you have just scratched your arm with and do it a hundred strokes like you brush you canine and see how irritated and flaky your skin will be after that experiment.  Now, take any of Chris Christensen Systems brushes and run the pins down your arm and you won't find a scratch, no matter how hard or how many times you run that brush down your arm.
So to eliminate undo damage to your canine skin and coat chose any one of Chris Christensen Systems Show Dog Brushes.   All it takes is the right coat care regimen with the right coat care products and the right coat care tools for a healthy, thick and full coat!

Sunny's babies are 4 weeks old!

Sunny's 5 babies are doing very well! They are talking, walking, and playing. They think they are old enough for dog food - they hold it in their mouths until it turns too mush ha ha! Teeth are starting to come in too!

And don't even think about walking in the room and then not playing with them! They will tell you about it! They already love to cuddle and be touched!
