Happy Halloween

I can't believe that I have been silent for so long! My little boy has gone to his new home --I was very depressed at first as he was my only one, but now I am fine. I am looking forward to another litter starting maybe in January..........anyway, tonight I helped pass out candy and even let some of the little ones pet me. Mommy says I have come a long way with my socialization! Tomorrow I go to see my favorite groomer, Groomingdales. They really know how to treat a lady right! So Mommy says we will put a new picture in tomorrow. I have to admit that I haven't lost all of my post baby fat! But we are starting a new regime of walking every day so I am bound to "go lean"!

Mommy is packing suitcases again so I am a little nervous! But once I get in the car I will be fine. Here are some morning pictures of my little man, Jean Baptiste! He is into everything and is starting to chew a lot!

6 weeks old!

It has been a very eventful week! Jean Baptiste has taken his first road trip - going almost one thousand miles from Michigan to Arkansas! His first stay in a hotel, his first rest stop, his first night at a different house......the list goes on and on. Today he went to the vet and had a check up and shots. Everything is a ok! I had my teeth cleaned and Mommy had a microchip implanted to keep me safe. I have a tatoo on my belly because I came from Canada where they just started accepting microchips for registered dogs.

Jean Baptiste has also learned how to go up and down deck steps! His first attempts were really cute! But he goes at them at a fast run now! He isn't nursing now - maybe a little here and there but he eats all of his food, drinks from a rabbit bottle and now the bowl. He is becoming quite the little man!

He weighs 3.5 pounds and is a real little ball of fun! More pictures tomorrow because Mommy is having camera troubles tonight! (She forgot the right cable for the camera!)

4 weeks old

My little Jean Baptiste is 4 weeks old! He is now a bundle of energy and can walk, run a little, and follow me all around! He sleeps through the night now and has started eating solid food. He is simply too cute for words. I do worry though, that he is really spoiled being the only one!

I get to go to the beauty shop on Friday and I am excited! I need some "me" time :-)

Jean Baptiste is moving so fast now it is hard to get a picture of him, but Mommy has one to show how his face is changing. And Daddy was right, now that he is moving so much his tummy is not huge anymore.

Little problem!

Now before you worry there is no problem with Jean Baptiste! I have developed a case of mastitis which is an infection in a mammary gland. It is because I only have one puppy and he doesn't eat very evenly. Mommy noticed it late last night and immediately starting hot packs and massage. (Mommy was a La Leche member! and she raised milk goats so she has treated this quite a few times) So we went to the vet this am and Dr. Middleton prescribed antibiotics for 14 days. Mommy tricked me with a piece of cheese and I woofed it down.......

My little man is doing very well. He went in Mommy's little puppy carrier with us to the vet and he got checked out too. He was pronounced very healthy and cute! He can really crawl and get around now. So watch out world here he comes!

July 14th Bastille Day

My little man will be 3 weeks old tomorrow! He is really growing and can get up on all fours for a minute or so at a time. He loves to cuddle up with a baby blanket, especially under his "crib toy". Mommy says to watch for a video in the next day or so of him crawling.

I am really feeling good and leave him for a couple of hours - but of couse I check in on him often!

July 9th Couple of firsts!

Little Jean Baptiste is going almost 4 hours between feedings now. So I am able to go for walks and hang out with Mommy. But then I am ready to go back to my little boy and take care of him!

He even wagged his tail at Mommy and me today when he woke up and heard me coming! He is just getting cuter and cuter!

Jean Baptiste's eyes are open!

My little boy opened his right eye yesterday and his left today. Mommy didn't take a picture with his eyes open yet because he is still a little sensitive to light. But here are some pictures of him under his new "crib toy". Daddy says that puppies won't really play with it like babies do - but Jean Baptiste immediately crawled under it to cuddle when I was out and about.

His nose is still darkening, and his eyes are too. Mommy will have to cut his toenails this weekend because they are starting to scratch me!

I am leaving Jean Baptiste for longer and longer times now. He is doing a lot of sleeping still, but now that his eyes are open he is really trying to crawl!

I can't believe he has changed so much in under 2 weeks!

PS I am VERY glad that July 4th is over - I HATE fireworks! Jean Baptiste doesn't seem to mind them though.

More like a puppy less like a rat!

Jean-Baptiste is really growing! His nose, mouth, and eyes are all darkening and his shape is filling out to be so cute! He isn't eating every single minute like he was, but he can still put it away fast when he wants to! I have been spending more time away from him, not very far away and definitely close enough to hear him when he needs me. But the chipmunks and squirrels have learned that I am back on patrol!

Here is Mommy's latest picture of my little guy - he is about 1 pound now. And he is all adorable!!!

5 days old!

Little Jean-Baptiste is now 5 days old. And he is a pig! When you look at his pictures look at how fat his tummy is! Mommy is trying to separate us a little to sort of put him on a diet - but Daddy says when JB can crawl he will burn off all of this baby fat! We will see!

I am finally relaxed now. I guess I just had a case of the first time mommy nerves! Now I go outside for a little bit and I even talked to my friend Teddy when he came by for a visit. Mommy has been keeping up with my grooming which is a good thing because I could get really matted lying down so much and having the puppy all over me too.

Mommy finally hit on a food combination that I like - Eukanuba chicken and rice puppy food mixed with a dry Science Diet puppy food is the energy I am running on. And speaking of running, I am starting to feel like doing that now too. The chipmunks in the backyard had better watch out!!

When you look at the picture of Jean-Baptiste's face, notice how his little nose is turning black and his eyes are starting to have the dark black halo around that well bred Bichons have. Of course, I am biased but I think he is going to be a beautiful boy! His length is compared to a grooming comb which is about 8.5 inches long and 1.75 inches wide.

I am tired! June 27th

I have been one worried momma let me just tell you. I didn't want to get more than one foot away from my sweet little boy........but Mommy has slowly convinced me that I can go outside when I need to. I have to confess I haven't even been eating as much as I should unless Mommy puts my food in the box with me and my baby. But...I am getting better - slowly.

Mommy got us a plastic box on wheels to go inside my box so she can reach in and pull me out when she needs to take me outside.

My boy has arrived!!!

My little boy (Mommy is calling him Jean-Baptiste for now which is French for John the Baptist which was June 24th a very special day in Quebec) has arrived! He was 6.5 ounces and it was a little painful having him. But Mommy stuck right with me and that really helped me relax. Daddy was ready to rush us to the hospital if we needed, but after the puppy came he was finally able to go to bed just before midnight. Whew! Jean-Baptiste was hungry the minute he came out, the little pig! and he is busy nursing even now.

LABOR!

Ok folks I am officially in labor and I officially do not like it! I am panting non stop and crying because well just because I want to!!! It is 8:35 pm Tuesday evening and I think this puppy is coming sometime soon................

New due date!

I have been TRYING to tell everybody - but nobody listens to the dog, do they?? So I am telling everybody that my conception date was not until the 22nd of April and that makes the due date sometime towards the end of this week. My little puppy was moving around alot last night so I wanted to sleep with Mommy and Daddy about 4:30. I only took up my half of the bed as usual - I do weigh over 14 pounds now you know! So today my tummy is a little iffy and I am just trying to find a way to stretch out in comfort. Check out the picture of me relaxing outside - the sun is so nice today!

Monday, June 22nd

I know you are thinking where is that puppy, right? So is everybody else! I think that the owner of my studly boyfriend just didn't right down the correct date because that puppy is still very happy inside me! Mommy thinks that the date should have started from the 22nd of April which would mean sometime this week. I have a little upset tummy this morning so maybe it is starting? I am just getting lots of sleep because I know once the puppy comes sleep will be hard to get!

Xray results!

I had another Xray done with my pal Dr. Taylor. My puppy is still in the right place and the Dr says there may be another puppy hiding behind. Dr. Taylor thinks the puppy will be here sometime this weekend. Check out the Xray and see what you think!

Friday, June 20th

It was kind of a long night last night - I didn't feel relaxed and I wanted Mommy right next to me! I did some nesting last night and now I am little restless. My temperature has dropped now 99.8 so I think in the next 24 hours. Mommy made me an appointment this afternoon but maybe I will have this puppy before then! I will keep you updated.

Wednesday, June 18th Full Moon Tonight!

Mommy spent a long time brushing me today - I love those treats I get on the grooming table! I can patiently wait for over and hour and a half. Note to anybody who wants to keep a bichon frise in a long cut - it takes a lot of work! Mommy is very careful with me, especially now, but we want to be knot free before labor starts. I am not a princesse who likes to be dirty for very long!

Here I am stretched out after my grooming - that puppy needs extra room when I lie down. Maybe tonight will be the night, but still no more signs of labor.

Tuesday, June 17th

Mommy keeps taking my temperature with this gadget in my ear. She says my temperature has dropped half a degree today. It is supposed to drop 1 to 2 degrees just before labor. I have felt a little funny a couple of times today but I am still hungry and eating! Daddy thinks the puppy will come tonight because the full moon is tomorrow. But Mommy says Wednesday night because Thursday is 62 days. What do you think? I think this puppy will come when it is good and ready!

Mommy is done with school now and will be able to be home with me ALL DAY and play and brush my hair and give me treats....yay!

June 13th X ray results!

Well, we went to the vet yesterday. I was pretty nervous, but everybody was very nice. They took my picture twice to be sure - but I have only one puppy! This is a lot of trouble for just one puppy, but it does look well-formed and healthy. It is even facing the right way. So now I just have to hope that it doesn't get a lot bigger in the next few days. I have some milk starting to be ready for the little one too. Mommy has started taking my temperature. 100.1 yesterday and 99.9 tonight. Maybe this weekend will be my special day!

For now I am taking it easy, going to check out the new Ford Flex at Ford World Headquarters with Mommy and Daddy, (They are waiting for their new Flex just like I am waiting on my puppy!) and taking a trip to PetSmart to pick up a couple of new toys - Mommy dropped one, but I picked it up for her!

Tonight I am chewing on one of my favorite chew bones. This one is great big and I carry it up and down the stairs because it is my lucky one right now.

Let me know if you think it is a boy or a girl...........Mommy has a special home ready for a little boy, but she says we may get to keep a little girl.

June 8th

Today has been another hot and humid day in Michigan. What that does to my beautiful hair! Mommy keeps my hair in almost a show cut, very long and fluffy. She has a schedule to brush my hair; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Sometimes I like to sit in the dirt and leaves so she has to add another day! I am a very patient girl on the grooming stand. Mommy worked with me when I was little little puppy to get used to the grooming table and the brushes. She taught me to let her work on my feet and brush my teeth too by touching my feet and rubbing my gums when I was a baby. Of course I get special treats when I am groomed too so that makes it all worthwhile!

I played with my friend Teddy again today. We would have really liked to run and play together but it started raining. Maybe tomorrow. I will have Mommy take a picture of the two of us soon.



My tummy just keeps growing and I have to go out in the middle of night for, well, you know.....hope these babies come soon! Meanwhile you can see me on my neat new grooming table - it is a vibrant pink one just for us girls!

June 7th

I saw my friend Teddy this morning. Teddy is a cocker and poodle mix who lives on the next block. We like to talk and play together. It is very hot and humid here in Southeastern Michigan this week so I am doing a lot of just hangin out on the cool tile floor.

I am expecting puppies around June 22nd. This is my first litter so Mommy and I are a little nervous! I go on Thursday to have an x-ray to tell us how many puppies are coming. My boyfriend lives across the border in Canada. He is a fancy-smancy Canadian show Champion. So were my grandparents and great-grandparents so Mommy says ours puppies will be beautiful with dark pigments around the eyes, nose and mouth like me and with no tearing. Can't wait to see them!
